2019 Mentored MAT Learning Experience Scholarships
The Medical Education and Research Foundation for the Treatment of Addiction (MERF) will be providing Mentored Learning Experiences (MLEs) for physicians and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) providers at the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) 2019 Addiction Medicine Review Course, September 4 - 7, 2019, at the Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, CA. MERF Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Scholars (MERF MATES) applications are being accepted thru May 27, 2019.
Funding for MERF MATES provided by CA's Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) as a component of the SAMHSA State Opioid Response Grant.
The MERF MATES scholarships will include:
Free conference registration
Free Motivational Interviewing pre-conference workshop registration
Stipend toward travel and lodging
Participation at the conference in a MLE with addiction medicine specialists, sitting together at facilitated small tables and sharing common MAT questions and approaches to exploring primary care solutions.
Scholarship recipients are expected to be present throughout the conference, sit together, and participate fully from Wednesday, September 4th, 11:00 a.m. until the close of the conference at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 7th.
Follow up Journal Club - 3 evening internet-based journal clubs over the coming year with an author presenting a relevant MAT paper.
A DEA waiver is not required to apply but is required for providers by June 30th in order to be accepted.
2019 MERF MATES Scholarship Application period closed May 27, 2019. The MERF Board of Directors will review submissions and follow-up with all applicants mid June.
